An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic individuals to join our inpatient specialist dementia ward based in Exeter. We are looking for people with post registration experience who are passionate about nursing. The job offers a challenging yet rewarding environment with opportunities to consistently learn. Belvedere Ward provides high quality of care and treatment for people who have complex health needs and a cognitive impairment. We provide a multi disciplinary assessment of patient needs to build their current and future care needs. The team are an enthusiastic and highly motivated team, with a passion for working with older adults. We work closely as a multi-disciplinary team and work well together allowing us to better support our patients and one another. We aim to support the overall health and wellbeing of our staff, keeping them physically and psychologically well which is important in these current times. Main Duties of the Job

We at this moment are unable to support newly registered nurses on the ward due to the number of newly resgistered we have to support at current, but hope to welcome more newly registered staff in future posts. - to work alongside families and carers to provide person centred care and to meet the needs of our patients and others that are important to them
- To participate in the internal rotation system including weekend and night working
- To be a proactive, skilled member of the ward Multi-Disciplinary team
- To demonstrate effective leadership and assist with providing advice and guidance to non qualified staff and students.
- To lead shifts as nurse in charge, making safe practical descions to ensure gold standard quality of care for all.
- To build, implement and review person centered care plans, risk assessments and needs assessments for all.

- To have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- To provide robust risk assessments and ensure they are updated regularly on electronic clinical records
- To maintain professionalism at all times/whilst being non-judgemental.
- To ensure safe practice working to NMC, Government and Trust policies /procedures

- To engage and participate in the use of electronic recording systems and training when required.
- To participate in formulating and providing reports for other professionals such as panel for continuing care etc
- To demonstrate a working knowledge of NMC codes of conduct and comply with them.
- To demonstrate a working knowledge of government health and social care policy
- Have a working knowledge of PREP requirements and maintain personal, professional development.
- Report any observed incident of unprofessional behaviour, accident/incident, untoward occurrence, and faulty equipment immediately to Ward Manager/Team Leader.
- To take an active role in own supervision and continuous professional development

- Experience of Adult and/or Older Persons Mental Health within the NHS
- Previous experience of working and caring for people living with dementia

- RMN/ Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with current NMC registration.
- A willingness to complete Trust Mandatory Courses (will be required to complete and undertake relevant Physical Interventions training with adjustments considered if required)

- Ability to engage in and lead (when required) MDT meetings

- To be able to plan and implement all aspects of nursing skills.
- To demonstrate effective leadership skills, promote effective role model across the ward environment.
- To attend Mandatory Training for restraint, Breakaway, Manual Handling etc.
- To be able to work on the internal ward shift rotation which includes night duties
- To work to the Trust Data Protection and Confidentiality guidance/policy
