Buying Manager – Product & Sourcing

ABOUT THE ROLE

\n

We are working with a successful and growing consumer products business who are looking to appoint a Buying Manager – Product & Sourcing to join their head office team in North Manchester.

\n

This is a varied and highly administrative buying role, taking ownership of products from initial sourcing and costing through to sampling, production, testing and final shipment .

\n

You will manage multiple products and ranges across a number of categories, working closely with suppliers across the Far East and internal Design and Quality teams to ensure products are delivered to the required specification, quality and timescales.

\n

\n

Key responsibilities will include:

\n

\n
• Managing products through the full critical path , from order placement and sampling through to production and shipment.
\n
• Sourcing products and new concepts from international suppliers, with a focus on maintaining and improving quality and margin .
\n
• Building strong relationships with overseas suppliers and negotiating pricing and payment terms .
\n
• Calculating product costs, freight and exchange rates to support commercial buying decisions.
\n
• Working closely with Design on product and packaging concepts , artwork and specifications.
\n
• Liaising with Quality Control to ensure products meet relevant testing, quality and compliance requirements .
\n
• Managing samples and approvals, ensuring key milestones are recorded and achieved.
\n
• Coordinating product set-up and maintaining accurate buying and supplier information.
\n
• Working across multiple projects and competing priorities to ensure products are delivered in line with customer requirements and Cargo Ready dates.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

\n

We are looking for an organised, commercially aware and proactive buying professional who enjoys working across the detail and taking ownership of a product from start to finish.

\n

\n

Ideally, you will have:

\n

\n
• Previous experience within buying, sourcing, importing or product development , ideally within consumer products.
\n
• Experience working with Far East suppliers would be highly advantageous.
\n
• Strong spreadsheet and administration skills, with confidence managing critical paths and multiple product lines .
\n
• A good understanding of product costing, freight and exchange rates.
\n
• Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing overseas relationships.
\n
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
\n
• The ability to work at pace, manage competing priorities and solve problems proactively.
\n
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work collaboratively with suppliers and internal teams.
\n

This would suit someone who enjoys a hands-on buying role and is comfortable balancing commercial thinking with the detailed administration required to successfully manage products through to shipment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Buyer, Product Buyer or Sourcing professional looking to take greater ownership of the end-to-end product lifecycle within a fast-paced and commercially focused business.

SALARY

\n

£40,000 - £45,000
