Senior Practitioner - Occupational Therapist

£8k per annum

Please note that the advertised salary for this position is subject to the pending 2026/2027 national pay award. The final salary will be adjusted accordingly once this has been agreed.

This position qualifies for a market supplement payment of £200 per month. Please note this  additional  payment will be reviewed on 31 March 2027.

Following a recent review of the Occupational Therapy services within Ceredigion County Council, a new service structure has been developed. Both Adult and Paediatric senior OT roles now fall under the same management structure within Ceredigion’s through age well-being model.

Bringing the Adults and Paediatric services together is a new endeavour. Therefore, there’ll be an expectation of flexibility in your approach and being passionate about service development. As the service matures, the team will become more integrated and the boundaries between adults / children’s services are likely to overlap as this exciting process progresses.

As a senior practitioner you can expect to receive regular professional supervision and protected CPD time.

Your focus in the team will be to:

  • Provide clinical support, guidance, and formal supervision to OTs and OTAs who carry a community case load.
  • Screen and prioritise new referrals.
  • Work clinically with service users with the most complex needs.
  • Assist the team manager in highlighting and replicating clinical best practice within the team.
  • Identify, contribute to and lead on service development projects.
  • Assist in an always improving approach to assessment and provision of services.
  • Approach openly, cross cover between Adults / Paediatric senior roles if needed.
  • Deliver team training as needed and model continual professional development in practice.
  • Continue to build on recent exciting service and organisational developments in areas such as:
    • Evolving clinical practice
    • Technology enabled care
    • Evidence based manual handling (releasing time to care)
    • Penmorfa Centre for Independent Living (PenCIL a community resource)

The community OT role is varied, our goal is to empower people to maximise their own independence while using resources fairly and responsibly, in line with our professional and legislative responsibilities. Our team are experts in:

  • Functional assessment
  • Empowering people with complex long-term conditions
  • Using compensatory, rehabilitation and person-centred approaches
  • MDT working
  • Identifying new innovative ways to help people live more meaningful lives.

As a Senior Practitioner you will be confident in your clinical assessment skills; able to explain why and how you make decisions. Be professionally self-aware, knowing where your own competencies begin and end. Have a proven track record of successfully supporting and supervising other OT / support staff. Possess strong organisational skills. Most of all you should be as passionate as we are about innovation, teamwork and providing a quality evidence-based service.
