The Role

Two part time posts are currently available for the for of Dispatcher for Lanarkshire Out of Hours Service. One post is 22 hours and the other 30 hours.

The Dispatcher provides admin support for the OOH service for clinical and non-clinical staff in conjunction with NHS 24, to ensure the clinical needs of patients are adhered to within the NHSL medical guidelines.

The Dispatcher will, in partnership with NHS24, assist to provide an efficient and effective clinical service for the people of Lanarkshire in the Out of Hour’s period when their own GP is not available. The post holder must ensure accurate and considered dispersal of patients information, which have been determined by medical staff is completed in line with the allotted timescales.

The working pattern for this role is:

Monday - Sunday / Mon - Fri 1800hrs to midnight; midnight to 0800hrs

Sat/ Sun - 0800hrs -1600hrs; 1600hrs to midnight and midnight to 0800hrs

In this key role, you will:

• Accurate recording of patient information onto the relevant Clinical system
• To control and monitor the volume of work across the 2 centres and ensure that the vehicles are monitored in relation to activity and redeployed as necessary to ensure the most efficient level of service is being maintained for the patient
• Dispatch high volume calls to appropriate areas in line with NHS Lanarkshire procedures, ensuring patients are allocated to appropriate services
• In the absence of the Hub Team Leader/Shift Leader notify the “Clinical Lead” Manager of any problems affecting the safe, effective and efficient running of the service

What You'll Bring:

• SVQ level 3 or equivalent NHS experience preferably in an Out of Hours Service, or similar Call Centre environment.
• Knowledge of a range of standard operating procedures and practices, as well as knowledge of software programme (Adastra) acquired through in -house training
• Must be able to demonstrate flexibility, initiative and be able to make decisions in a pressurised environment.
• Understanding of a range of work procedures which can often be adhoc situations.
• A good geographical knowledge of Lanarkshire
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
