This is an important Public Health Improvement leadership role, based within the Community Health & Social Care Directorate in NHS Dumfries & Galloway.
Working to progress organisational aims and developments, post holder is expected to lead, coordinate, innovate and implement of a range of strategies and programmes in response to region wide priorities for population health improvement; and build community-based support and partnerships with a focus on reducing the impact of persistent health inequalities.
The role requires a high level of both strategic and community-based vison, leadership and management skills, as well as the ability to influence and negotiate for action that fosters primary prevention and enables public health improvement work; as well as ensuring organisational and directorate responsibilities are upheld.
This role includes management of a team of Public Health Improvement Leads and providing professional leadership and direction for the Public Health Improvement workforce based within 5 Home Teams across the region.
The post holder is accountable to the General Manager, Community Health and Social Care. Ongoing strategic and operational working arrangements are maintained with the Public Health Directorate.
