Job Title: Production Operative - Toffee Manufacturing Nights Department: Production / Manufacturing Reporting to: Production Supervisor / Shift Manager Job Purpose
The Production Operative is responsible for the safe and efficient manufacture of our clients food products in a high-volume production environment. The role involves operating cooking equipment, following recipes and production schedules, monitoring product quality, and maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and housekeeping. The Production Operative is responsible for the safe and efficient manufacture of our clients food products in a high-volume production environment. The role involves operating cooking equipment, following recipes and production schedules, monitoring product quality, and maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and housekeeping. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and weigh raw ingredients
- Operate industrial cooking kettles, mixers, pumps, and associated production equipment.
- Monitor cooking temperatures, cooking times, and product consistency to ensure quality standards are met.
- Transfer cooked toffee safely through the production process using appropriate equipment.
- Carry out routine quality checks, including appearance, texture, colour, and temperature measurements.
- Complete production records and batch documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure all food safety, HACCP, GMP, and health & safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness of production areas and equipment through scheduled cleaning and sanitation procedures.
- Identify equipment faults or product issues and report them promptly to the Production Supervisor.
- Support changeovers between product runs and assist with equipment setup.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve daily production targets and minimise downtime.
- Handle ingredients and finished products safely, including manual handling tasks where required.
- Assist with stock rotation and ingredient replenishment following FIFO principles.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or food production environment.
- Ability to follow written recipes, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication and numeracy skills.
- Understanding of food hygiene and health & safety practices.
- Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and weekends when required
