Specialty Doctor-Ophthalmology (Primary Care and Neuro-Ophthalmology)

Job summary
We are excited to recruit an Ophthalmology specialty doctor to provide excellent care to our patients. The role focuses on Primary Care and Neuro-Ophthalmology. The post is fixed term for 12 months.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery and development of Neuro-Ophthalmology and Primary Care services within a busy and progressive ophthalmology department. The post offers significant opportunities for service development, multidisciplinary working, and gaining valuable experience in the Neuro-Ophthalmology sub-specialty.

Main duties of the job
The workload will include neuro-ophthalmology and cataract clinics and eye casualty sessions, and the post holder will also be expected to fulfil the following duties within the agreed job plan:

• Provision and development of exceptional ophthalmology services
• Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge and the proper functioning of the department
• Actively participate in clinical governance and audits
• Actively participate in departmental meetings

These duties are subject to review from time to time in the light of the changing requirements of the service.

We run a Women's Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George's Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

• MBBS / MRCS / FRCS or equivalent medical qualification
