Project Engineer

£24.2 - £28.4 per hourEstimated
Full-time

As a Project Engineer, you’ll take ownership of technical delivery—planning, coordinating, and managing engineering activities to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project specifications across mechanical, electrical, and ICA disciplines
  • Ensure all deliverables meet technical standards and client expectations
  • Manage project performance, including quality, cost, schedule, and team output
  • Identify and implement efficient, cost-effective engineering solutions
  • Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure seamless delivery
  • Support and collaborate closely with Project Managers and stakeholders
  • Review engineering outputs and implement corrective actions where required
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate project team members
  • Plan and delegate workloads to meet key milestones
  • Participate in meetings with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Support preparation of project documentation (e.g. CDM, RAMS, H&S plans)
  • Oversee procurement of materials, plant, and specialist subcontractors
  • Contribute to estimates and quotations

Skills, Experiences & Qualifications:

  • ONC / HNC / BEng (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline
  • Experience within the water and/or wastewater sector
  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive, self-motivated approach
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • High levels of professionalism, diplomacy, and customer focus
