School IT Technician – Independent School – Enfield, London

Location: Enfield, London

Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

School Information

An established independent school in Enfield is looking to recruit a capable and service-focused IT Technician to support its digital infrastructure and day-to-day technical requirements. The school uses technology across teaching, learning and administration and recognises the importance of maintaining reliable systems for staff and pupils.

The successful candidate will join a team responsible for ensuring that computer equipment, classroom technology and digital services operate efficiently. This position would suit someone who enjoys troubleshooting, supporting users and finding practical solutions to technical problems.

The Role

The IT Technician will provide first-line technical support throughout the school, responding to requests from teaching staff, administrative colleagues and other users.

Responsibilities will include diagnosing hardware and software problems, resolving routine technical issues and escalating more complex faults where appropriate. The postholder will assist with setting up computers, preparing devices for new staff, installing approved software and ensuring that equipment is ready for use.

The role will involve maintaining printers, interactive displays, projectors and other classroom technology. The successful candidate may be required to assist during lessons, assemblies and meetings when technical difficulties arise, helping to minimise disruption.

The technician will maintain records of IT requests, equipment allocation and completed maintenance tasks. They will assist with routine updates, account administration, device checks and the organisation of technical equipment.

The postholder will also help ensure that school systems are used securely and responsibly. This includes following procedures relating to passwords, access permissions, data protection and the reporting of potential security concerns.

Working collaboratively with colleagues will be important, particularly when identifying recurring technical issues or planning improvements to existing systems. The successful applicant will be expected to explain technical matters clearly and provide practical guidance to staff who need assistance using school technology.

Requirements

Candidates should have previous experience in IT support, technical assistance or a similar role. A good understanding of computer hardware, Windows systems, Microsoft 365 and basic networking would be advantageous.

Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to prioritise support requests are essential. Applicants should be approachable, patient and confident communicating with users who have varying levels of technical knowledge.

Experience supporting educational technology or working in a school environment would be beneficial. The successful candidate must demonstrate a responsible approach to data security, confidentiality and professional conduct.

What the School Offers

The school offers an opportunity to develop technical expertise within an established educational environment. The successful applicant will work with a range of equipment and systems, contribute to the effective use of technology and help maintain reliable digital services for the school community.
