The SEN TA will provide individual and group support , helping pupils access lessons, develop essential skills, and build confidence. The role requires a proactive, patient, and adaptable individual who enjoys working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists.

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) : Pupils may need assistance with concentration, impulse control, and task completion.

  • Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs : Pupils may require strategies for managing emotions, building resilience, and sustaining positive behaviours.

  • Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN) : Pupils may need one-to-one or small group interventions to develop communication and social interaction skills.

  • Learning Delays : Pupils may need additional support in literacy, numeracy, and other areas of the curriculum.

  • Sensory Processing Differences : Pupils may need personalised support or environmental adjustments to engage effectively in learning.

Support may be delivered one-to-one , in small groups , or integrated into whole-class lessons , depending on individual needs and SENCO guidance.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing tailored support to pupils with SEN to help them access lessons and activities

  • Supporting pupils to achieve academic, social, and personal development goals

  • Collaborating with class teachers to adapt lesson content, resources, and teaching strategies

  • Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs, behaviour plans, and individual support plans

  • Supporting pupils’ emotional regulation, social skills, and behaviour management

  • Encouraging positive peer interactions and communication

  • Assisting with transitions between lessons, playground supervision, and lunchtimes

  • Observing, recording, and reporting pupil progress and behaviour

  • Providing feedback to teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists

  • Supporting personal care needs where appropriate, maintaining dignity and respect

  • Promoting independence while offering structured guidance

  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

This role requires flexibility, patience, and a creative approach to meeting pupils’ diverse needs.

Formal SEN qualifications are not required, as full training and mentoring will be provided.
