This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Science Technician to lead the day-to-day operation of the school's science laboratories, ensuring practical lessons are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. The successful Senior Science Technician will play a vital role in supporting the Science Department, managing laboratory resources, maintaining health and safety standards and assisting teachers in delivering engaging practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The successful Senior Science Technician will: * Have previous experience working as a Science Technician , ideally within a secondary school or educational setting.
* Possess excellent knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment and safe working practices.
* Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Health & Safety regulations, including COSHH and CLEAPSS guidance.
* Have experience preparing, maintaining and safely storing chemicals, equipment and practical resources.
* Be confident supporting practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
* Demonstrate excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
* Be able to prioritise workloads and work independently while supporting a busy Science Department.
* Have experience supervising or mentoring other Science Technician staff, or be ready to step into a leadership role.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, senior leaders and support staff to ensure the smooth running of practical Science lessons. Key responsibilities include: * Leading the day-to-day operation of the Science laboratories.
* Managing and supporting the Science Technician team where applicable.
* Preparing, setting up and clearing away equipment for practical lessons.
* Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring all apparatus is serviced and stored correctly.
* Monitoring laboratory stock levels and ordering chemicals, equipment and consumables.
* Carrying out risk assessments and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation, COSHH regulations and CLEAPSS guidance.
* Maintaining accurate records of chemical inventories and equipment maintenance.
* Supporting teachers with practical demonstrations and investigations.
