Lecturer in Infant and Early Years Practitioner - VIG (Education and Scholarship)
This part-time post (0.1 FTE) is available from 30 June 2026 on a fixed term basis until 31st December 2026. In line with the University’s fair employment for all principles, any further funding opportunities identified will be reviewed and discussed during the contract.
Salary will be from £43,482 per annum pro rata on Grade F, depending on skills and experience. The post may attract a market supplement, in line with Agenda for Change 8a depending on skills and experience.
Cedar is a Clinical Applied Psychological Practice Centre of Excellence. We are one of the largest providers of training in evidence-based psychological practice and therapies in the UK. We offer a wide-ranging portfolio from CPD, Professional training Programmes (Undergraduate up to Masters level programmes), through to post qualification and advanced practice courses. This role offers the opportunity to join Cedar in the training and development of the next generation of infant and early years practitioners. As part of the National NHS Children and Young People’s Psychological Training programmes the Infant and Early Years Practitioner programme aims to support the development and training of practitioners working with children and families with children under 5 years increasing the access to evidence based psychological therapy for children and families.
The Role

We are seeking to appoint a new Lecturer/Senior Lecturer with a particular interest in Video Interaction Guidance and the training and supervision of Infant and Early Years Practitioners.
The role will involve supporting trainees by delivery of VIG supervision which takes place on alternate Mondays at the university during term time. You will work with other supervisors and the Clinical and Programme Leads to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of clinical supervision within the teaching programme in accord with the College’s education strategy and implementing the External Affairs strategy. You may also contribute directly to teaching in relation to the development of clinical skills one within the specified clinical area and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices in relation to clinical supervision.
The post will require the post holder to.
- act as independent practitioner, supervising the formulation and implementation of appropriate treatment plans for trainees undertaking training.
- work alongside clinical supervisors, academics, trainers and clinicians to provide a high quality supervisory service
- undertake marking and assess clinical competency and academic assignments of trainees with a range of approaches as required
- keep records of supervision sessions and reflectively discuss clinical cases with the supervisory team
- implement policies and propose changes to practices, procedures for your own area of work and propose policy or service changes which impact beyond their own area for the wider training and clinic settings
- offer regular group intervision.
- offer 1-1 supervision of VIG practice, liaising with workplace supervisors and teams, where necessary.
- provide individual tutorials to students where needed
About you
For a Lecturer post you will:
- Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a Professional practice qualification or equivalent Qualification in clinical supervision to develop teaching programmes, and teach and support learning;
- Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students;
- Participate in and develop external networks, for example, to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities;
- Will have evidence of excellent teaching/supervision identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching;
