Test Technician - High Voltage Power Supplies

We are seeking a skilled Test Technician to join a well-established advanced manufacturing organisation specialising in high voltage power systems used in cutting-edge technology applications.

This is a hands-on technical role within a manufacturing environment, responsible for ensuring that all power supply units meet rigorous safety, quality, and performance standards before reaching customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute testing of high voltage power supplies to defined specifications

• Upgrade and modify assemblies and finished products

• Complete test reports and documentation in line with customer and quality management requirements

• Provide hands-on manufacturing support including mechanical assembly and component installation

• Interpret and implement engineering changes in accordance with documentation

• Identify product quality and performance issues and raise non-conformances where required

• Liaise with Design Engineering, Test Equipment Design and Sales teams to support customer requirements

• Support Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety management systems

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including sustainability and "green" improvements

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• Experience with high voltage test methods

• Soldering and rework experience to IPC standards

• Experience within a lean manufacturing environment

• Ability to accurately follow test procedures and achieve standard times

• Competent in the use of test equipment including:

  • Oscilloscopes

  • Function generators

  • Digital power supplies

  • Multimeters

• Proficient in Microsoft Office

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Working Environment

• Use of appropriate PPE (e.g., safety shoes, eyewear, gloves)

• Fine control required for assembly, soldering, and hand tool usage

• Visual inspection of small components and reading of technical drawings and digital displays

• Manual handling of materials up to 30kg (with mechanical aids where required)

• Occasional movement of larger equipment (up to 800kg) using mechanical aids and safe working practices
