Year 1 Teacher - Dudley

Teach and Inspire Pupils at the Start of Key Stage 1

We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and experienced Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Dudley, starting as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity to teach pupils transitioning from Reception into Key Stage 1, helping them consolidate early learning while developing confidence, independence, and essential skills across all curriculum areas.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for a Year 1 class, delivering engaging, high-quality lessons across the curriculum. The school values inclusion, collaboration, and pupil wellbeing, and is looking for a teacher who can inspire pupils academically, socially, and emotionally.

Your Role

As a Year 1 Teacher, you will plan and deliver lessons that challenge pupils of all abilities. You will track progress, identify gaps in learning, and adapt teaching strategies to ensure every child achieves their potential. Supporting pupils’ personal, social, and emotional development is a key part of the role, fostering resilience and independence.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 1 curriculum

• Use assessment to monitor progress and inform planning

• Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL learners

• Maintain a structured, inclusive, and positive classroom environment

• Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and independent learning

• Collaborate with teaching assistants and Key Stage 1 colleagues

• Communicate effectively with parents and carers

• Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and CPD

• Contribute to curriculum development and school improvement initiatives

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Have experience teaching Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1

• Be confident in curriculum delivery, assessment, and differentiation

• Possess strong classroom management and organisational skills

• Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable

• Demonstrate commitment to inclusive practice and safeguarding

• Have a positive, professional approach to teamwork

Early Career Teachers are welcome and will be supported with mentoring.
