Teaching Assistant - SEN

£92.63 - £95 per day

SEND Teaching Assistants Wanted

Do you want a career where you can have a positive impact on a child's life every single day?

At Protocol Education, we are looking for compassionate, proactive and enthusiastic individuals who are interested in becoming SEND Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with additional needs in schools from September.

Not every child learns in the same way. Some children need extra encouragement, patience, understanding and support to help them thrive. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping pupils build confidence, develop independence and achieve their full potential.

Whether you're looking for a career change, starting out in education, a recent graduate, or someone with experience supporting others in any capacity, we'd love to hear from you. What matters most is your attitude, empathy and desire to make a difference.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs
  • Supporting learning and engagement both inside and outside the classroom
  • Helping children develop confidence, independence and social skills
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Adapting support to meet individual needs and learning styles
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and school staff
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where all children can succeed

Who We're Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals who are:

  • Empathetic, caring and patient
  • Passionate about supporting children and young people
  • Proactive and willing to take initiative
  • Positive, resilient and adaptable
  • Strong communicators who can build meaningful relationships
  • Reliable, committed and eager to learn
  • Motivated by making a genuine difference in the lives of others
  • Able to remain calm and supportive when faced with challenges

No Previous School Experience? No Problem.

You do not need prior experience working in a school to become a SEND Teaching Assistant.

Many successful SEND Teaching Assistants come from a wide range of backgrounds, including:

  • Customer service
  • Care and support work
  • Youth and community work
  • Sports coaching
  • Nursery and childcare settings
  • Mental health support
  • Hospitality and retail
  • Health and social care
  • Volunteering and mentoring roles

If you've developed strong people skills, empathy, patience and the ability to support others, these are all highly transferable qualities within education.

Graduates Welcome

This role is also an excellent opportunity for graduates looking to gain valuable experience before pursuing careers in:

  • Teaching
  • Educational Psychology
  • Clinical Psychology
  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Counselling
  • Social Work
  • Youth Work

Why Work with Protocol Education?

  • Flexible day-to-day, short-term and long-term opportunities
  • Weekly PAYE pay with no umbrella company deductions
  • Access to free CPD and professional development training
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant
  • Opportunities across mainstream schools, SEND schools and alternative provisions
  • Clear pathways into permanent positions within education
  • A rewarding role where you can make a lasting impact on young people's lives

If you're a caring, proactive individual who wants to help children overcome barriers, grow in confidence and achieve their potential, we'd love to hear from you.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
