The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Office Support Officer to join our Projects & Property Team.

The Projects & Property Team are responsible for providing a comprehensive compliance and management service to the Council and its Directorates in respect of the Council’s various property assets to ensure that premises are properly maintained, meet all statutory requirements, satisfy occupiers’ or users’ needs or requirements and are viable and safe for both Council staff, operatives and the public.

The Project Office Support Officer role includes maintaining high quality property, project and energy data; processing purchase orders and invoices; supporting budget monitoring; and producing reports on performance, energy usage, costs and key performance indicators. A significant element of the post involves energy and utilities administration across the Council’s estate, supporting energy monitoring, billing reconciliation and sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives aligned with the Council’s Net Zero ambitions.

• Support the Project Office Manager with Programme Office Management (PMO) activities

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

This position is currently based at our Weston-super-Mare Town Hall Office.

Work Style
At North Somerset Council, we offer a hybrid working environment based on four distinct work styles. Depending on the role and personal circumstances, you will fall into one of these categories. However, please note that during the induction period, it may be necessary to spend more time in the office to support your learning and development. We are flexible and open to discussions about your preferred working style, and if you wish to be in the office more frequently, this can be negotiated.

This role falls into the category of Flexible Worker which means you can expect to work in the following way:

Flexible Worker
• 2-3 days in the office
• Works both from home and the office, depending on the task at hand.
• Training is provided to help balance work-life and manage time effectively, with an emphasis on communication for team touchpoints and planning in-office days for collaboration.

About You
We are looking for an individual who possesses the following skills and experience:

Essential Criteria:
• GCSE’s or equivalent with GCSE in English and Maths (Minimum Grade 5).
• Experience in an administrative or data-focussed role.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage large amounts of data accurately.
• Understanding of utility billing processes and/or property management systems.
• Ability to demonstrate sound organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information in line with GDPR requirements.
• Analytical approach with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
• Be able to prioritise competing demands and work under pressure.
• Flexible attitude and the ability to produce data/reports with minimal notice/assistance.
• To be able to communicate clearly and effectively.

Desirable Criteria:
• Relevant qualification in business administration, housing, or facilities management.
• Experience of preparing reports and the use of data management systems.
• Awareness and understanding of Key Performance Indicators
