In-Person Tutor - Maths, English, Music Technology & Photography -Beckenham
Part-time, Temporary
We are looking for a patient and supportive tutor to work with a Year 12 student on a one-to-one basis.
Subjects
The student requires support with:
Maths Functional Skills
English Functional Skills
Music Technology (Level 2)
Photography (NCFE Level 2)
About the Student
The student has Autism and ADHD and would benefit from a tutor who can help build his confidence in a calm and encouraging environment.
He has a keen interest in:
Photography
Military aircraft
Cars
Building a positive relationship will be an important part of this role, so we're looking for someone who shares or has an interest in some of these hobbies and can connect with him on a personal level.
The student does not respond well to pressure and works best with someone who is understanding, patient, and able to adapt lessons to his individual needs. He has previously experienced racist bullying at school, which has affected his confidence and trust, so a compassionate, supportive approach is essential.
The family also has a friendly Labrador and two timid cats, so tutors should be comfortable around pets.
Tutor Requirements
The successful tutor should:
Be patient, empathetic, and encouraging.
Have experience supporting students with Autism and/or ADHD.
Be able to build confidence and create a positive learning environment.
Ideally have an interest in photography, cars, or military aircraft to help establish rapport.
Be able to support the student's access arrangements where appropriate.
