PYP Grade 5

Ascend International School is seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative PYP Grade 5 Homeroom Teacher to join our Primary School team. The successful candidate will facilitate engaging, inclusive and student-centred learning experiences aligned with the school’s mission, curriculum and IB educational philosophy.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated learning experiences for Grade 5 students across a range of abilities and learning needs.

• Collaborate with colleagues to develop, document and deliver the curriculum through inquiry-based and transdisciplinary learning.

• Encourage student voice, agency, responsibility and action through meaningful learning engagements.

• Support and guide students through the PYP Exhibition, including planning, inquiry, documentation, reflection and presentation of their learning.

• Monitor, assess and document student progress and achievement in relation to learning objectives and curriculum frameworks.

• Create a positive, open and supportive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, collaboration and independent learning.

• Support the academic, social and pastoral development and wellbeing of students.

• Maintain appropriate documentation, including evidence of student learning, portfolios, attendance and reports.

• Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, colleagues and school leadership regarding student learning and progress.

• Lead at least one extracurricular activity each semester and contribute to field trips and other school learning experiences.

• Participate actively in professional development, parent-teacher conferences, school events and wider school programmes.

• Maintain a strong focus on student health, safety and safeguarding.

The Ideal Candidate

• Qualified and experienced Primary teacher with experience teaching Grade 5 or a similar age group.

• Experience with the IB PYP, including the PYP Exhibition , or a strong understanding of inquiry-based and student-centred learning is desirable.

• Strong ability to differentiate learning and foster student agency and independence.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, classroom management and organisational skills.

• Reflective and committed to continuous professional development.

• Comfortable working within a culturally diverse international school community.

• Demonstrates a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
