Learning and Development Adviser (Qualifications and Standards Team)

About the role

Due to a new and developing area of work, we have an opportunity within our Workforce, Education and Standards Directorate. The role sits within the Qualifications and Standards Team and the postholder will be working closely with a range of external partners and internally with key staff to progress the work of regulation, qualifications and standards.

The post holder will be required to lead on a project related to setting the required standards and qualification requirements for registration with the SSSC. The role is exciting and diverse, and the role holder will have the opportunity to influence and support national change.

This temporary post may be suitable for secondment arrangements until 31 March 2027. At the end of the secondment, the post holder will return to their substantive post.

What you need to succeed

• Knowledge and understanding of the roles and remit of the regulated children and young people’s workforce (School age childcare, ELC and residential child care).
• Extensive knowledge of the National Occupational Standards, the Scottish Qualifications Framework and how qualifications are structured, assessed and verified.
• You will be experienced in managing projects from planning through to delivery, including setting clear objectives, monitoring progress, managing risks and dependencies, and keeping stakeholders informed and engaged throughout.
• Ability to work collaboratively with employers, workers, Scottish Government, partner organisations, learning providers and colleagues across the SSSC.
• Ability to apply critical analysis and sound judgement, using evidence, sector insight and stakeholder feedback to successfully deliver projects
• Experience of preparing formal reports to Boards and Committees.
