The role:

An opportunity has arisen to join the Phlebotomy Service covering inpatient wards across the Clyde Sector.

The successful candidate will work as part of a dedicated team providing a venepuncture service for patients across a range of specialities at both the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) and Inverclyde Royal Hospital (IRH).

The role requires a flexible and adaptable individual who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team, ensuring a high-quality and efficient service is delivered to patients and clinical teams.

Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Location: Royal Alexandra Hospital

Work Pattern: Permanent, 15 hours per week, although variable hours may be considered. The service operates Monday to Sunday across Clyde, and successful candidates will be required to work across this rota as required. Frequent travel between the RAH and IRH sites is an essential requirement of the role.

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.

Key responsibilities:

The postholder will provide a venepuncture service for all specialities within both RAH and IRH sites. They will be responsible for collecting blood samples from inpatients and ensuring that target times are met to support the prompt delivery of samples to the laboratories. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across the Phlebotomy Service to maintain an efficient, safe and patient-focused service.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• Excellent timekeeping and organisational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently using own initiative.
• Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
• Ability and willingness to travel frequently between RAH and IRH sites.

Desirable Requirements

• Previous experience within a phlebotomy or healthcare environment (if applicable).

Training

• Appropriate training and support will be provided in line with service requirements and local procedures.
