- Are you looking for a new challenge?
- Are you wanting to find purpose in the work you do?
- Are you an enthusiastic, compassionate and a dynamic individual?
- Do you want a role where you make a real difference in young people’s lives?
Duties & Responsibilities
Nottingham City’s Young Persons accommodation service (NCYPAS) is recruiting for a support worker. We have 31 self-contained flats across two properties with one dispersed property out in the community. You’ll be based at Francis House or Caunton Avenue, where we support 11 young people with the ultimate aim of re-housing them permanently. We work with 18–21-year-olds who have been assessed as homeless but have the capacity to work with 16/17-year-olds and care experienced people up till the age of 25. With the service manager, assistant manager, support planners and other support workers you’ll be working with young people in finding permanent accommodation and supporting with any barriers they encounter. Those barriers range from gaining confidence and support with well-being, to finding tenancies and budgeting. Our residents have a diverse range of needs too- the main needs are homelessness, mental and physical health, substance use, experience with the justice system, healthy relationships (including DA/DV), childhood trauma and young people who’ve been granted status. This list isn’t exhaustive. The work can be difficult but it’s ultimately rewarding, and we work hard as a team to support each other!
We're looking for a strengths-based approach, using the elements of being psychologically informed and creating environments where our young people will flourish. We want creative and innovative solutions to work with our young people. Our key partner is Housing Solutions and that’s where all our young people are referred from. We are given a 6-month time frame to work with them. The role will be fast paced but will be an exciting opportunity!
29 hours per week on a rota basis, shifts are generally 8-4 or 2-10, including weekends
Expectations of the role
- Provide practical and emotional support to young people, helping them build the skills they need to live independently.
- Support young people in a trauma-informed and person-centred manner, ensuring their emotional, psychological, and physical needs are met.
- Develop trusting relationships and offer guidance to empower young people and help them achieve positive outcomes.
- Create and maintain a psychologically informed environment that nurtures trust and promotes self-efficacy.
- Assist with risk assessments, support plans, and reviews, ensuring the safety and well-being of all young people.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including leaving care workers, housing officers, and other professionals.
About You
