Domiciliary Care Worker

Location: Croydon, Sutton, Selsdon, Sanderstead, Kenley, Purley, Carshalton, Banstead and East Croydon

Pay: £15.00 per hour plus paid travel time and mileage

We are looking for caring, reliable and compassionate individuals to join our growing domiciliary care team. Whether you have previous care experience or are looking for a rewarding new career, we would love to hear from you.

Our clients are predominantly elderly people aged 80 and over who wish to remain living independently in their own homes. Some of our clients are living with mild to moderate dementia, but all are able to make their own day-to-day decisions. We are committed to providing person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence and choice.

We are currently recruiting two female carers and one male carer to join our full-time care team.

Job Description

As a Domiciliary Care Worker, you will provide high-quality support to people in their own homes, helping them to live safely and independently.

Your duties may include:

• Providing personal care with dignity and respect.
  
• Assisting with medication.
  
• Preparing meals and drinks.
  
• Supporting with household tasks and light domestic duties.
  
• Providing companionship and emotional support.
  
• Helping clients attend appointments or access the community where required.
  
• Recording care provided and reporting any concerns.
  

Visits range from 30-minute morning or bedtime calls through to one-hour visits, with some longer visits of three to five hours depending on individual care needs.

We aim to build working patterns that suit both our clients and our care team. Shifts can include:

• 7:30am to 2:00pm
  
• 2:00pm to 8:00pm
  
• 4:00pm to 10:00pm
  

We are also happy to discuss flexible working arrangements, including school-friendly hours where possible. Every other weekend working is required.

Full-time hours are typically between 30 and 35 hours per week, although additional hours are available for those who would like them. We offer both fixed-hours and variable-hours contracts.

Requirements

We are looking for people with the right attitude and values. Previous care experience is welcome but is not essential, as full training will be provided.

To be successful, you will need:

• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  
• A genuine passion for caring for others.
  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  
• Reliability, compassion and a positive attitude.
  
• The ability to work every other weekend.
  
• A clear Enhanced DBS check (no exceptions).
  
• Two professional references and two character references.

Our interview process is relaxed and designed to get to know you. Depending on availability, interviews will either take place in person over an informal coffee at our office or via Google Meet.

Training and Development

We are committed to supporting every member of our team.

Your induction includes:

• Paid company induction covering our values, policies and expectations.
  
• Practical moving and handling training.
  
• Online learning modules to complete during your probation.
  
• Shadow shifts alongside an experienced Senior Carer before working independently.
  

You will receive daily support from your Senior Carer and weekly contact with our Care Development team, who will help you build your confidence, complete competency assessments and support your professional development throughout your three-month probation.
