Job Title: Band 5 Biomedical Scientist in Pathology, Islington (UK) - Up to £25.62 Hourly, Ongoing

- Process pathology samples within the designated discipline.
- Validate and authorise results, ensuring rapid and accurate turnaround.
- Operate and maintain laboratory automation equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain detailed reagent and quality records.
- Supervise and mentor trainee Biomedical Scientists, Medical Laboratory Assistants, and placement staff.
- Assist in quality management, UKAS, MHRA, SHOT, and HTA compliance activities.
- Contribute to SOP development, COSHH, and risk assessment documentation.
- Participate in audits, research, and data analysis to further industry standards.
- Support training and education for technical and medical staff.
- Ensure accurate laboratory documentation and records management.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and governance activities. Requirements:
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
- Experience in the relevant pathology discipline, with a solid understanding of diagnostic techniques.
- Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
- Strong verbal communication and computer literacy skills.
- Ability to supervise junior staff and effectively manage workload.
- Capability to make informed decisions and work accurately under pressure. Desirable Requirements:
- Experience in audit and research projects.
- Familiarity with laboratory automation systems.
