Salary: £92 - £115 per day Support students' personal development, wellbeing, and academic success in a rewarding role where every day makes a difference! GSL Education are currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated Learning Mentor to undertake short-term cover and long-term placements within schools in York and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity to support young people in overcoming barriers to learning, building confidence, improving engagement, and achieving their full potential. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing guidance, encouragement, and practical support to students who may require additional assistance both academically and personally. About the Role: As a Learning Mentor, you will work closely with students, teachers, pastoral teams, and families to provide targeted support that promotes positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, attendance, and academic progress. You will help create a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel valued, motivated, and empowered to succeed. Key Responsibilities of the Learning Mentor: * Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students requiring additional guidance
* Support learners in overcoming barriers to education and personal development
* Encourage positive behaviour, attendance, and engagement with learning
* Build positive and trusting relationships with students, staff, and families
* Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes
* Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff to develop effective support strategies
* Promote students' emotional wellbeing, resilience, and self-confidence
* Contribute to safeguarding and welfare procedures in line with school policies
* Support students during lessons, breaktimes, or other school activities where appropriate As the Ideal Learning Mentor, You Should Have: * Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, pastoral, youth work, or support setting
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* A patient, empathetic, and supportive approach
* Ability to build positive relationships and act as a positive role model
* Good organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records
* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
* Ability to remain calm and professional when supporting students with additional needs or challenges To Work with GSL Education, You Must: * Have the right to work in the UK

* Have recent experience working with children or young people
