EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Whitefield, Greater Manchester
Contract: Temporary (Long-term)
Full Time/Part Time: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Pay: £102-£115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Expected End Date: July 2027 (end of the academic year)
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Whitefield is seeking a caring and dedicated EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting children within the Early Years Foundation Stage who have a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), developmental delays, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The school provides a nurturing, supportive and inclusive learning environment where every child is encouraged to develop their confidence, independence and skills. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider multidisciplinary team to provide personalised support that enables children to access learning, develop social skills and achieve their individual goals.
Key ResponsibilitiesProviding 1:1 and small group support for children with additional needs within the EYFS setting.
Supporting children's communication, language, social and emotional development through structured activities and play-based learning.
Assisting with the implementation of EHCPs, individual learning plans and targeted interventions.
Supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication needs, developmental delays and sensory needs.
Encouraging independence, confidence and positive engagement in classroom activities.
Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, therapists and wider support staff.
Observing, recording and reporting on children's progress and development.
Creating a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.

Have experience supporting children within an EYFS, nursery or primary school setting.
Have experience working with children with Special Educational Needs.
Be patient, compassionate and nurturing, with a genuine passion for supporting young learners.
Be confident supporting children's communication, social development and emotional regulation.
Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Be adaptable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a wider support team.
Have the right to work in the UK and full-time availability.
Desirable:
Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, Early Years or an equivalent qualification.
Experience supporting children with ASC, speech and language needs or developmental delays.
Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, AAC or other communication strategies.
Team Teach, MAPA or similar behaviour management training.
Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework.
