The Footman has been serving the heart of Mayfair since 1749 and is one of London’s oldest pubs. Spread across three floors, we combine traditional pub character with modern British dining, fine wines and an elegant atmosphere that attracts both local guests and visitors to the capital.

We’re now looking for a passionate Sous Chef to join our kitchen team and play a key role in delivering the high standards our guests expect.

Job Description

What you'll do

• Support the Head Chef in leading the kitchen team and delivering consistently high food standards
• Take an active role in running a busy service, ensuring every dish is delivered to specification
• Help develop and maintain a talented, motivated and engaged kitchen team
• Maintain excellent standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene and health & safety
• Support with stock control, ordering, GP management and kitchen administration
• Work closely with the wider management team to create an exceptional experience for every guest
• Step up and take ownership of the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence

Qualifications

What we're looking for

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie ready to take their next step
• A genuine passion for food and delivering consistently high standards
• Experience working in a busy, quality-led kitchen environment
• A confident and supportive leadership style, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
• Strong organisation and attention to detail
• Good understanding of food safety, stock control and kitchen costs
• Someone who thrives under pressure and takes pride in what they do
