Technical Developer

£28.5 - £32.9 per hourEstimated

The Technical Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing training materials, qualifications, and programs within Uptime Education's framework. This role demands a deep understanding of data centre and network cabling technologies, a passion for continuous improvement, and the creativity to translate complex technical concepts into engaging, effective training content.
Key Responsibilities
Develop new training materials for the data centre and network cabling industry.Create bespoke training content tailored to customer requirements.Design new programs and contribute to the evolution of the existing education framework.Update and enhance existing programs, qualifications, and training resources.Research emerging technologies, industry trends, standards, and best practices to keep training content current and relevant.Generate new ideas and concepts for future training offerings.Quality-assure existing training materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.Conduct quality assurance of instructor delivery, ensuring high instructional standards.Improve training processes, workflows, and development methodologies.Write new qualifications and review/quality-assure existing qualifications.Collaborate with internal teams and subject matter experts to ensure content excellence.Work with colleagues and customers around the globe (work in other timezones may be required
outside regular working hours).

Strong ability and confidence to improve all aspects of technical information across program content.Creative skillset with the ability to interpret technical requirements and design effective training solutions.Strong appreciation of continuous improvement and through-life development of training products.Highly technically competent within the data centre industry.Demonstrable experience in the data centre environment (operations, design, engineering, cabling, or related fields).High degree of independent drive, initiative, and self-motivation.Inquisitive and analytical mindset with the ability to identify areas requiring investigation and conduct technical research.Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.Flexible and adaptable approach to workload and evolving project needs.Strong computer literacy and openness to learning new software tools and platforms.Personal drive, determination and self-motivation to make a positive impact within the industry.Ability to
work alone, as part of a team or to lead a team, interchangeably.
Preferred ExperienceSuitable experience in the Data Centre industry.Electrical or Mechanical engineering qualification, or similar in conjunction with industry experience.Experience developing technical training, courses, or qualifications.Exposure to education, instructional design, or technical writing.Familiarity with industry innovations, best practices, standards and compliance requirements.
Desirable Skills (not essential)Experience in instructional design or educational theory.Ability to create multimedia training assets such as diagrams, animations, videos, or interactive content.Familiarity with a Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital learning platforms.Understanding of network infrastructure standards or data centre compliance frameworks.Hands-on experience with structured cabling installation, testing, and certification tools, Or experience in design, build, project management or Operations in a Data centre environment.Competence with software used for content creation (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate 360, Visio).Experience writing technical documents, white papers, or industry guidance material.Knowledge of latest innovations and technologies.Ability to convert complex engineering concepts into simplified visual schematics or concepts.Experience collaborating with subject matter experts or industry bodies.Strong presentation or
public-speaking skills.Confidence in analysing training feedback and using data to drive content improvements.Understanding of project management principles or experience coordinating training development projects.
