Career in Finance (Training Programme)

New Talent is a remote learning programme supporting individuals to achieve their CII Certificate in Financial Services; a level 3 qualification to act as a springboard to a wide range of career paths within financial services. If your application is successful, you’ll be enrolled onto a training programme which will support you in studying for the two exams that make up the Certificate, as well as access to a supportive community and ongoing mentoring.

Is this for me?
If you do not yet work in financial services and are interested in a career in the sector, then yes, it may be for you! The programme is fully funded and is focused specifically on helping people move into a new career in finance and removing potential blocks to them doing so without our support.

We are therefore looking for people interested in a new career, who are dedicated to the path and can make the most of the funded opportunity.

In order to help you decide whether you are able to make the necessary commitment for this funded training, we have provided more detail below. We are offering two options; to do the programme over 6 months, or over 12 months, as we understand people may have existing commitments that limit the time they can dedicate to the programme and we want to remain as inclusive as possible:

6 month programme (next start date 9th July 2026)

• Months 1 -3 will be studying for LP2

• Months 4 - 6 will be studying for R01

• You will have a one hour workshop each of the six months

• And three mentor check ins

• Total anticipated time required - 8 hours per week for 6 months

12 month programme (next start date in 2027)

• As above!

• But spread across the 12 months

• Total anticipated time required - 4 hours per week for 12 months

Schedule

• Your exam study can be done in your own time.

• The workshops will usually be at either 10am or 2pm. We will give as much notice as possible of all sessions.

• Mentor sessions will be arranged between you and the mentor.

We require a minimum attendance and participation rate of 80% .

What’s the catch?
There isn’t one, we promise. Verve Foundation is keen to remove barriers to entry in financial services, one of the main ones often being the financial commitment to undertake the qualifications. And so, we work hard to secure financial support from others who share our passion to be able to offer the training programme for free to individuals who would otherwise be deterred.

That said, because it’s such a unique opportunity, competition onto the programme is fierce. All students will be expected to sign a contract of commitment which states if they withdraw during the programme or do not hit the required attendance rate, they’ll be expected to cover the costs already incurred up to that date (exam fees, study materials etc) which gets reinvested back into the programme and gives someone else the opportunity instead.

How do I learn?
It’s a national training programme and therefore all delivery is carried out online. Alongside your monthly workshops and support from the Verve Foundation team, your learning will be carried out via e-learning modules, course books and peer support from a community of fellow learners.

You will take the exams directly with the CII which can currently be taken remotely (in the comfort of your own home) or in a test centre at a time and location of your choice.
