As Assistant Headteacher: Behaviour and Attitudes Lead, you will provide strategic leadership for behaviour, attendance, personal development and the creation of a positive school culture. Supported by an experienced pastoral team and a collaborative senior leadership group, you will lead the continued development of systems and approaches that promote high standards, strong relationships and a culture of respect, responsibility and belonging.

This is a pivotal leadership role for an inspiring practitioner with a deep commitment to inclusion, high expectations and student success. You will play a central role in shaping whole-school culture, ensuring that students are known as individuals, supported to make positive choices, and empowered to achieve their full potential. Working closely with staff, families and external agencies, you will drive improvements in behaviour, attitudes to learning and attendance, fostering an environment in which all students feel safe, valued and motivated to succeed.

To be successful you will need to:

• Be passionate about promoting high standards of behaviour, attendance, inclusion, and personal development, ensuring every student can thrive and achieve their full potential.

• Have extensive knowledge of effective behaviour strategies, pastoral systems, safeguarding responsibilities, and current educational developments relating to behaviour and attitudes.

• Be an exceptional communicator who builds strong, positive relationships with students, staff, families, governors, and external agencies.

• Bring resilience, integrity, clarity, and compassion to your leadership, modelling the highest standards and expectations at all times.

• Demonstrate the ability to strategically lead people, systems, and targeted interventions that improve behaviour, attendance, engagement, and student outcomes.

• Have the drive and vision to lead school improvement, raise expectations, and inspire a positive culture of respect, responsibility, and excellence across the school.

• Use data effectively to identify trends, evaluate impact, and implement evidence-informed strategies that secure sustained improvement in behaviour and attitudes.

• Be committed to creating a safe, calm, and purposeful learning environment where all students feel valued, supported, and challenged to succeed.

About the Role

The Assistant Headteacher Behaviour and Attitudes Lead will:

• Provide strategic leadership for behaviour, attitudes, attendance and personal development across the school, ensuring that all students can thrive in a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment.

• Lead, line-manage and develop the school's behaviour and pastoral systems, ensuring consistently high standards of conduct, wellbeing, attendance and student engagement.

• Oversee the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the school's behaviour policy, ensuring a consistent approach that promotes positive behaviour and high expectations for all students.

• Work closely with pastoral leaders, teaching staff and external agencies to identify and support vulnerable students, removing barriers to learning and promoting positive outcomes.

• Lead on attendance improvement strategies, analysing trends and implementing targeted interventions to secure excellent attendance and punctuality across the school.

• Use behaviour, attendance and pastoral data to evaluate effectiveness, inform strategic planning and drive continuous improvement in student conduct, engagement and wellbeing.

• Champion an inclusive culture where students demonstrate positive attitudes to learning, mutual respect and a strong sense of belonging within the school community.

• Work in partnership with parents, carers and external professionals to support students whose behaviour, attendance or wellbeing present barriers to achievement.

• Contribute to safeguarding, inclusion and the wider strategic leadership of the school, fulfilling the responsibilities expected of a senior leader and supporting the school's vision and values.

• This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and inspirational leader to make a significant impact on the culture, ethos and outcomes of the school through outstanding leadership of behaviour and attitudes.

• Lead and strengthen the House System and promote competition across the school.

• To strategically lead Personal Development through tutor activities, assemblies, enrichment programmes, student leadership opportunities and wider school experiences.

• To lead the strategic development of the House System, ensuring it promotes a strong sense of belonging, identity, participation and pride across the school community.

• To develop and oversee a programme of inter-house competitions, events and enrichment opportunities that celebrate achievement, encourage participation and strengthen students' connection to the school.

• To use the House System as a vehicle for promoting attendance, positive behaviour, leadership, personal development, teamwork and community engagement
