Standards and Improvement Partner for Maths
A unique and exceptional opportunity for an accomplished maths leader to lead and influence the maths curriculum provision, standards and outcomes across maths departments in the Outwood Grange Family of Schools.
About the role
We are incredibly excited to offer a unique leadership role within the Maths School Improvement Team for an inspiring maths leader with a proven track record of raising standards and improving outcomes; this is a critical leadership role for the trust. The role of School Standards and Improvement Partner (SSIP) with OGAT is highly sought after as it affords outstanding subject leaders the opportunity to widen their impact on the lives of our young people. SSIPs develop their own leadership knowledge and skills, work closely with a range of colleagues to drive improvement and high standards and work directly with our students, whilst still focusing within the subject in which they are absolute experts and have a love and enthusiasm for.
The successful candidate will work across a number of academies within a geographical community in the North West of England, where you’ll be at the forefront of driving excellence in maths education.
You’ll work closely with senior leadership and subject teams as part of an experienced team of school improvement partners, leading and developing maths departments, shaping a curriculum that challenges and inspires students and improving teaching and outcomes for students. You will join an established team of Maths SSIPs led by our Trust Strategic Lead for Maths as well as playing a role with other subject SSIPs in the development and implementation of our wider secondary curriculum, pedagogy and practice.
What are we looking for
We seek a leader with a passion for mathematics education and a drive to transform the learning experience and lives of our students. You need to have demonstrable, exceptional performance in your current role, deep subject knowledge and pedagogical expertise and current research-informed practice in order to drive systematic, measurable improvement across all academies.
Our academies pride themselves on incredibly high standards for both students and staff alike; we expect high standards of behaviour, teaching and a culture of continuous improvement.
This is a permanent, full-time position with the opportunity to make a substantial impact on the maths and wider education of thousands of young people. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the maths education at the heart of a Trust that puts “students first”, strives to demonstrate expertise in our respective roles and is obsessive about attaining the highest standards, thereby transforming students’ life chances. This is an exciting time to join Outwood Grange Academies Trust as we work collectively as a family of schools to achieve the very best for our students in every region and every classroom.
If you’re ready to bring your expertise and passion to this role that is both challenging and rewarding, we want to hear from you. Join us in our mission to ensure that every student, regardless of their starting point, can achieve their full potential and thrive.
The role centres on driving excellence and consistency in teaching and learning for a specific subject across all allocated schools, in alignment with the Trust's vision.
The responsibilities can be broken down into three main areas:
Leadership and Development
Model Leadership: Act as a system and subject leader and role model for subject leaders and teachers, promoting the Trust's pedagogical strategies.
Improvement: Directly drive improvements in the quality of teaching, learning, and standards through mentoring and coaching.
Strategy: Take responsibility for an area of the subject strategy or development plan as directed by the wider Subject TSL (Trust Subject Leader).
Quality Assurance and Data Management
Data Analysis: Develop, use, and interpret accurate data on subject performance (Trust, school, cohort, class level) to facilitate targeted intervention and ensure leaders/teachers understand and apply the data effectively.
Quality Assurance (QA): Support accurate self-evaluation and systematic QA, producing required reports, and ensuring statutory requirements (assessment, exam specifications) are met.
Compliance: Keep up to date with OFSTED requirements and evidence-informed practice.
Professional Growth and Community
Professional Development (CPD): Lead and develop a community of teachers and leaders, identify subject expertise, and ensure colleagues receive appropriate, ambitious CPD.
Collaboration: Act as a facilitator/coordinator for new and innovative practice, contribute to the Trust's School Improvement Strategic Plan, and lead/participate in relevant events (e.g., Outwood Institute of Education).
Visibility & Support: Be a visible, proactive, and approachable ambassador for the Trust, offering support on people and resource management (recruitment, retention) related to the subject.
