About Highshore School
Highshore School - Inspiring Futures, Changing Lives
At Highshore we are committed to ensuring every pupil achieves their full potential.
Highshore is a specialist 11–19 school in Southwark for pupils with complex mixed needs, including autism, communication difficulties and physical and medical needs. All pupils have an EHCP, and many require support with communication, independence and daily living skills.
Our focus is on developing communication, independence and real-life skills, preparing pupils for further education, employment and adult life. We work closely with families, therapists and external professionals to provide a personalised and holistic approach for every pupil.
We are a happy, creative and ambitious school with a strong ethos of collaboration and high expectations. Staff work closely together to share practice and continuously improve teaching, learning and assessment across the school.
About the role
Are you an ambitious teacher ready to take the next step into leadership?
Highshore School is seeking a passionate and skilled SEND Teacher to lead Mathematics and Assessment across the school. This is a unique opportunity to shape curriculum, drive assessment practice and make a real difference to pupils with complex needs.
Why this role is different
This is not a standard teaching role.
At Highshore, you will:
Shape how Maths is taught across a specialist SEND setting
Lead a whole-school approach to assessment that genuinely informs practice
Work in a school where collaboration between teachers, therapists and support staff is embedded
Have the autonomy to influence curriculum design and pedagogy
Be part of a leadership team that is clear, supportive and focused on impact
Most importantly, you will see the difference your work makes every day — in pupils’ independence, confidence and progress.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Has experience teaching in a SEND or inclusive setting
Has strong Maths pedagogy (CPA, small steps, functional maths)
Has experience of using assessment to improve outcomes
Can lead, support and develop staff, including non-specialists
Has high expectations for all pupils
Is committed to inclusion, teamwork and continuous improvement
We offer
A supportive and collaborative staff team
Clear leadership and strong strategic direction
High-quality CPD and leadership development opportunities
A chance to shape whole-school practice
A role where your work has visible, meaningful impact
