Job Advert
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
We are a dynamic team striving to deliver the best integrated MDT care to children and young people living with long-term health conditions and their families.
We are fortunate to be based in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) and benefit from the support of a wide range of MDT mental health specialists.
Within the Paediatric Clinical Health Psychology Service we have the flexibility to develop interventions based on demand such as the introduction of targeted group work.
This post provides a great opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to bring their knowledge and innovative thinking to help our service continue to progress. We have done well to attract new members to our team and are proud of the work we are doing but want to see greater equity for families when we cover such a wide geographical area.
The role requires someone who is enthusiastic and motivated and easily able to establish strong working relationships with colleagues given the level of MDT working involved.
In the area of Paediatric Psychology, it is key to the delivery of compassionate and sustained care to ensure the needs of staff are also considered. We currently offer reflective practice groups to specialist nursing teams and are keen to think of other creative ways to deliver staff support.
We are interested in learning what you are passionate about and supporting your interests where possible. We have a number of working groups such as those organising CPD, staff support and CAMHS website development to name but a few that could value from your contributions.
We work closely with the medical, nursing and allied health professional teams which has led to us developing solid working relationships. Many of us share offices in the same building which enables easy opportunity to knock on a colleague’s door for advice or support.
We work closely with the teams on Highland Children’s Unit and Neonate Unit in Raigmore Hospital, hence there is a need to be present on the wards in person.
We are a friendly supportive team delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to an experienced psychologist, ideally in paediatric health but open to someone applying with a background in CAMHS or adult clinical health psychology.
The Highlands are a playground for those loving the outdoors. If you are not active coming here, you run the risk of becoming that way! There is stunning geography for you to explore but also urban amenities like Eden Court Theatre, restaurants, bars and shops in Inverness. If you enjoy (or see the benefit even!) of loch swimming, there are opportunities to go after work with the hardier members of our team.
