We are seeking an experienced and motivated Service Manager (or an established Team Leader ready to take the next step) to lead our Children & Young People’s Domestic Abuse Service during a period of maternity leave cover.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for someone passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse and who can inspire, support and develop a dedicated team of skilled practitioners.

About the Role

As our Children & Young Person’s Service Manager, you will provide operational leadership and management of our Children & Young People’s Domestic Abuse Service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed support across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

Working closely with the CEO and our other Service Managers, you will lead a small team of skilled Children & Young People Support Practitioners, oversee service delivery, monitor outcomes, manage delegated budgets, and ensure the service continues to meet contractual, safeguarding and organisational high standards to children and young people accessing our service.

You will play a key role in maintaining partnerships with external agencies, representing GWA at multi-agency forums, and ensuring that children and young people receive safe, effective and meaningful domestic abuse support.

Key Responsibilities

Service Leadership

• Assess and allocate referrals to ensure children and young people receive the most appropriate support.
• Monitor service quality through regular case reviews, evaluations and outcome measurement.
• Ensure services are delivered in line with organisational policies, contractual requirements and best practice.
• Prepare regular service reports meeting funder requirements and organisational outcomes
• Maintain effective partnerships with statutory and third-sector agencies to achieve positive outcomes for service users.
• Contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Staff Management

• Provide direct line management, supervision, guidance and support to Children & Young People Support Practitioners.
• Manage caseload allocation and monitor workloads to ensure safe and effective practice.
• Lead on staff development, induction, learning and training opportunities.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and performance management processes.
• Promote a positive, collaborative and solution-focused team culture.

Safeguarding and Quality Assurance

• Act as Child Protection Officer for the organisation, ensuring knowledge and practice remain current and compliant.
• Ensure accurate record keeping, case management and reporting.
• Monitor service outcomes and produce reports for the CEO, funders and stakeholders.
• Identify risks, challenges and opportunities and work proactively to address them.

Partnership and Representation

• Represent Grampian Women’s Aid at relevant forums, meetings and partnership groups.
• Promote the work of GWA and advocate for the needs of women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse.
• Contribute to training, awareness raising, service promotion and fundraising activities.

About You

We are looking for an individual who combines strong leadership skills with a deep commitment to supporting children and young people affected by domestic abuse.

You will have:

Essential

• Significant experience managing or leading a support service, ideally within the children’s services, social care, health or third-sector sectors.
• Experience of supervising, motivating and developing staff.
• Strong understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on children and young people.
• Experience working within multi-agency environments and building effective partnerships.
• Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Excellent organisational, communication and report-writing skills.
• Experience monitoring service outcomes and managing performance.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and trauma-informed practice.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.

Desirable

• Professional qualification in Social Work, Community Education, Youth Work, Health, Counselling, Management of a related field.
• Experience managing budgets and contract-funded services.
• Experience working within a Women's Aid or violence against women service.
• Training or qualification relevant to child protection, leadership or service management.

This is a fixed-term maternity cover position for 16 months.

This post is open to experienced Service Managers and skilled Team Leaders looking to progress into a service management role.

Salary – from £37,091.60 pro rata
