Job Title: Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) – Vaccination & CTAC Services
Grade: Agenda for Change Band 8a
Location: Midlothian Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP)
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 36 hours per week
The Opportunity
Midlothian Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP), in conjunction with NHS Lothian, is seeking an inspiring, dynamic, and experienced nursing leader to take on the role of Clinical Nurse Manager (Band 8a).
This is an exciting and pivotal leadership role where you will have overarching professional and operational responsibility for two critical areas of community healthcare delivery: the Midlothian Vaccination Service and the Midlothian Community Treatment and Care (CTAC) Service.
As we continue to embed the Primary Care Improvement Plan (PCIP) and evolve our community nursing infrastructure, you will play a central role in shaping the future of these services. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective patient-centered care while working collaboratively with General Practice, the wider HSCP, and NHS Lothian corporate teams.
The Role
Reporting to the Service Manager, the successful candidate will provide strategic direction and strong clinical leadership across both services. Your key responsibilities will include:
• Operational Management: Overseeing the day-to-day delivery, capacity planning, and performance management of the Midlothian Vaccination and CTAC services.
• Clinical Governance & Quality: Ensuring a culture of continuous quality improvement, maintaining high clinical standards, and robustly managing risk, incidents, and complaints.
• Workforce Leadership: Providing line management, professional supervision, and mentorship to Team Leaders (Band 7) and the wider nursing and administrative workforce.
• Strategic Development: Leading the ongoing design and implementation of the CTAC model in alignment with the GMS contract, ensuring services are resilient, accessible, and responsive to local population needs.
• Financial & Resource Management: Managing devolved budgets effectively and ensuring efficient deployment of staff and resources.
What We Are Looking For
To excel in this role, you must be a Registered Nurse (NMC) with a master’s degree or equivalent level of experience, alongside a proven track record of successful leadership at a senior level (typically Band 7 or above) within a complex healthcare environment.
You should possess:
• Extensive experience in community nursing, primary care, or vaccination programs.
• Exceptional change-management skills with the ability to lead teams through periods of service redesign and transformation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including GPs, multidisciplinary teams, and public health colleagues.
• A deep understanding of current Scottish Government health and social care policies, particularly the integration of health and social care and primary care modernization.
• A commitment to NHS Lothian’s core values of Care and Compassion, Dignity and Respect, Quality, Teamwork, Openness, Honesty, and Responsibility.
Why Work for Us?
NHS Lothian is on an exciting journey toward helping people live longer, healthier lives. We offer a supportive and progressive environment where your professional development will be actively encouraged. You will be joining a forward-thinking HSCP management team dedicated to innovation and staff wellbeing.
