Electrical Design Engineer - Building Services

My client are seeking an Senior Electrical Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality electrical design solutions across a range of projects, providing technical leadership, coordinating with project stakeholders, and supporting the development of junior team members.


You will have strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage electrical design activities with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and deliver electrical design work across a variety of projects from concept through to completion.
• Coordinate electrical design activities with internal teams, clients, contractors, and other design disciplines.
• Attend project meetings and provide technical input throughout the project lifecycle.
• Carry out site surveys, condition assessments, feasibility studies, and technical reports.
• Develop detailed electrical designs and documentation suitable for competitive tendering.
• Prepare specifications, calculations, and technical reports using appropriate industry standards and software tools.
• Produce budget cost estimates and provide technical advice on project requirements.
• Review and comment on contractor tenders, installation drawings, and technical submissions.
• Respond to contractor queries during construction and installation phases.
• Attend site progress meetings and monitor quality, workmanship, materials, and programme progress.
• Support testing, commissioning, snagging, and project close-out activities.
• Assist with reviewing contractor payment applications and final accounts where required.
• Identify opportunities to support business development and maintain strong client relationships.

Technical Leadership & Team Support
• Provide guidance, support, and supervision to junior and intermediate electrical engineers.
• Identify training and development needs within the team and support continuous improvement.
• Share technical knowledge and promote best practice within the engineering team.

Professional Requirements:
• Ensure all design work complies with relevant statutory regulations, industry standards, and professional body requirements.
• Maintain high standards of professional conduct and technical integrity.
• Promote a strong focus on health and safety across all projects and working environments.
