Breakfast Club and Afterschool Wraparound - Childcare Activity Leader / Playworker

Location: Shefford Lower School, Shefford
Hours: Breakfast and after-school club hours (7.30am-9.00am and 3.00pm-6.00pm) Weekly hours flexible to the needs of the business and yourself
Pay: In line with national minimum wage for age
Contract: Casual zero-hours

At  Junior Adventures Group , we’re not just childcare, we’re champions of fun! From football to face painting, scavenger hunts to snack time, you'll bring smiles, laughter, and energy to our  Breakfast & After School Clubs for children aged 4–11.

This role is  split shift , meaning you'll work mornings and afternoons, with a break in between (great for studying, hobbies, family, or even a nap!). You’ll also have the opportunity to increase your hours during  Holiday Club seasons and  Lunchtime Cover.

What you'll do day-to-day:

• Deliver  exciting, age-appropriate activities  like multi-sports, arts & crafts, group games, and creative play.
• Set up engaging play spaces and  keep things safe, clean, and awesome .
• Supervise children with care and enthusiasm, ensuring every child feels welcome, safe, and included.
• Prepare snacks and manage  sign-in/out processes  with a friendly face and attention to detail.
• Work split shifts: 7:30–9:00am  and 3:00–5:30pm , perfect for work-life balance or those seeking part-time fun!
• Be a  team player  who can also take the lead when needed.

What we’re looking for:

• Someone who  loves working with children  and brings a  positive, can-do attitude
• A creative thinker who knows how to  turn an ordinary afternoon into a magical experience
• A team player who’s also confident running activities and managing a group
• Bonus points if you have experience in teaching, coaching, childcare, or youth work (but not essential, personality goes a long way!)

Please note: This role requires compliance with the  Keeping Children Safe in Education  policy and is exempt from the  Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 . You must provide two references, one from your most recent employer and the other from a childcare setting (if applicable). We will conduct a DBS check on your behalf, so please prepare the correct documentation. You must meet these requirements to be eligible for the hiring process.
