Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team and take ownership of the commercial management of one or more residential developments from inception through to completion.

This is an exciting opportunity for an established surveying professional to play a leading role in the commercial success of our developments. Working closely with operational teams and senior stakeholders, you'll be responsible for driving profitability, managing risk, leading procurement activities and supporting the development of junior members of the commercial team.

What You Will Do

• Take full ownership of the commercial management of multiple developments.
• Prepare and manage site budgets, forecasts and cost plans.
• Monitor project performance, commercial risks and profitability.
• Produce monthly cost reports and financial forecasts for senior management.
• Prepare external valuations and finance reporting requirements.
• Provide commercial input throughout land acquisition, design and technical stages.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies.
• Lead subcontractor negotiations and package procurement.
• Prepare and manage subcontract documentation.
• Manage subcontractor payments, variations and final account agreements.
• Chair subcontract pre-order meetings and maintain accurate records.
• Work closely with site and technical teams to support successful project delivery.
• Attend project review meetings and site inspections.
• Liaise with contractors, consultants and external stakeholders regarding commercial matters.
• Ensure effective cost control is maintained throughout the development programme.
• Oversee utility payments and commercial administration activities.
• Mentor, support and develop Assistant, Junior and Quantity Surveyors.
• Provide guidance and commercial expertise across the wider project team.
• Promote best practice and consistency within commercial processes.
• Support the continued growth and development of the commercial function.
• Support company sustainability objectives, ESG commitments and net zero ambitions.
• Promote compliance with company policies, procedures and health and safety requirements.

About You

• 5-10 years' experience within Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management in residential construction.
• Proven experience managing multiple developments simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of cost management, procurement and contract administration.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience leading or mentoring junior surveyors.
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• Highly organised, commercially astute and results-driven.
