Level 3 Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEND Provision Location: Gateshead Job Type: Full Time, Term Time Only Start Date: September 2026 Pay: £120 - 140 per day, dependent on experience Your next step in specialist SEND education Are you an experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant looking for a more specialist and varied role? Protocol Education are working with a specialist provision in Gateshead that is looking for a confident TA to support children and young people with physical and/or medical needs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working as part of a specialist team and finding practical ways to help children access their education. What Makes This Role Different? The Role Includes Supporting children and young people to access learning.Adapting activities and resources to individual needs.Supporting pupils with physical and medical considerations.Using and implementing assistive technology.Setting up and checking specialist equipment.Supporting alternative methods of communication and recording.Helping pupils develop independence.Working with specialist teachers, schools, families and professionals.Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback.Ensuring equipment and support strategies are used safely. Essential Criteria Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.Experience working with children or young people with SEND.Experience supporting physical and/or medical needs.Good communication and organisational skills.Confidence using ICT and learning new technology.Ability to adapt quickly and work across different settings.Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle – essential due to the nature of the role.
