An opportunity for an experienced advanced practitioner in Breast Imaging has arisen at the North Midlands Breast Screening service and University Hospital North Midlands Breast imaging units. The successful candidate will have been working as a qualified advanced practitioner in breast imaging for at least 2 years and preferably have 3 modules of advanced practice, the qualifications must have been undertaken with a National Breast Screening approved provider, consideration will be given for an exceptional candidate who has at least 2 modules of advanced practice with a willingness to train in a 3rd module. The successful candidate will work at both the brand new County Breast Care unit and the Stoke Breast Care unit in the course of each week, working under the indirect supervision of the Breast Imaging Consultants. Candidates who require training in further modules or a preceptorship period will be at band 7 until they are confident and competent to work under indirect supervision. Main duties of the job
The advanced practitioner will work in both the County and Stoke breast units in the course of a week. They will perform advanced practice in image interpretation, breast and axillary ultrasound and, image guided biopsy/localisation using ultrasound and x-ray of the breast and axilla. The practitioner will work under the indirect supervision of the Breast Imaging Consultant in a variety of Breast Imaging Clinics. The candidate will be expected to take responsibility for their practice, maintaining self audit and engaging with the National Breast Screening Programme standards. The candidate will work as a leader within the clinics managing work load and prioritising work flow to support the advanced practitioners and Radiographers working in the clinic. About us

- Breast Image interpretation as part of the National Breast Screening programme and symptomatic service - including hot reporting in 2 week wait/ urgent suspected cancer clinics.
- Breast and axillary ultrasound to aid in diagnosis for patients attending symptomatically or as breast screening assessment.
- Breast and axilla image guided biopsy and localisation using ultrasound and breast image guided biopsy using x-ray.
- The post holder will work closely with the Breast imaging and surgical Consultant teams to provide the highest levels of care and accuracy of diagnosis. They will be expected to take responsibility for their own practice and self audit.
- The post holder will be responsible for work load prioritisation and work flow during clinics to support the Breast Imaging Consultant, Advanced practitioners and mammographers working in clinic.
- The post holder will need to maintain the 4 pillars of advanced practice, in part by carrying out service audits, supporting training including mentoring trainee advanced practitioners and performing PDRs.
