Salary / Hourly Rate: £18.4 - £18.85 per hour

1. Demonstrating your suitability for the Home Carer Role
Please provide examples from your previous work or personal experience that demonstrate your ability to carry out the duties of a Home Carer.
In your response, outline the situations you were involved in, the responsibilities you held, the skills you used, and how these experiences prepare you for this role
2. Upholding Values and Professional Practice
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) sets standards for professional practice, including promoting dignity, respect, and independence.
Describe a situation where you upheld an individual’s dignity, rights, or independence in your work experience.
Explain what actions you took, why these were important, and how this reflects good practice in care.
3. Flexibility in Meeting Individual Needs
Provide two examples of occasions where you adapted your approach to meet the needs of an individual.
For each example, describe the situation, how you demonstrated flexibility, and the outcome for the person you were supporting.
4. Understanding What Matters to Service Users
In your view, describe what you feel is most important to individuals receiving care at home and how you would approach supporting an individual to develop the confidence and skills to do more for themselves, while still ensuring their safety and wellbeing??
Explain your reasons, understanding and describe how you would approach your role to ensure their needs, dignity, and preferences are respected.
5. Managing Refusal of Care or Emotional Distress
Describe how you would respond if a service user refused care, was reluctant to try a task independently, or became upset or distressed.
Outline the steps you would take to support them, maintain their dignity, ensure their safety, and communicate in a respectful and professional manner.
6. Responding to a Difficult Situation
Describe in detail a time when you dealt with a difficult or unexpected situation that required you to act quickly.
Cleary explain what happened, any risks involved, how you assessed and managed those risks, and the overall outcome for the service user.
The grade for these posts is Grade 2 level 3 -£18.34 - £18.85 per hour. As this is a shift working post, you will receive an additional 1 or 2 increment (depending on your shift pattern) and this will be consolidated into your salary. This role will require flexible evening and weekend working. For all shifts, the morning shift can start between 7am and 8am, and backshift can end between 9pm and 11pm.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to work at a minimum of SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care. Candidates who do not already hold this qualification (or an equivalent or higher qualification) must be willing to work towards achieving it (all candidates must already hold a minimum qualification as stated SVQ2 SCQF6)
You will be required to work in accordance with a roster shift pattern.
