Job Summary
Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialist in Community Paediatrics with no out-of-hours on-call commitment. We welcome proactive clinicians and offer flexible working, with opportunities to develop interests in safeguarding, teaching, neurodisability, SEND, leadership, research, clinical governance, appraisal and supervision.

Our multidisciplinary team includes Community and General Paediatricians, Specialty Doctors, Specialist Nurses and administrative support. Working hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, with flexible non-clinical time, some home working and evolving services, including evening clinics.

Applicants should have experience in community paediatrics, including developmental and behavioural disorders and ASD/ADHD assessment. Clinics are mainly outpatient based, with joint autism assessments alongside Speech and Language Therapists. Training and senior support are available to develop ASD/ADHD expertise.

Specialist Nurses support assessments, parent education, ADHD/autism follow-up clinics, prescribing and transition to adult services.

Safeguarding experience is essential. The role includes weekday child protection on-call for Section 47 assessments relating to neglect and physical abuse. The team comprises 9 Consultants (1 vacancy), 4 Specialty Doctors, a Specialist Registrar and 4 Specialist Nurses, working closely with the acute paediatric service to provide integrated child protection, SEND and neurodevelopment care.

Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will be contracted by the Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. They are expected to be aware of local policies and procedures and to comply with the standing orders and standing financial instructions of the Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Where the Specialist is responsible for the management of employees of the Trust, they will be expected to observe the local employment and human resource policies and procedures.

• To share knowledge with the Paediatric Department.
• Teaching and training of junior staff and medical students.
• To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
• To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
• Develop community paediatrics role and service development
