Electrical Engineer

Project Overview

A major mining project is entering a new phase involving large-scale power generation and HV distribution infrastructure, supported by multiple downstream substations. Additional engineering resources are required to deliver detailed power system studies and develop Power Management Systems across the network.


Key Responsibilities

• Perform ETAP system studies across the full HV/LV distribution network (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, harmonics, stability).
• Model and analyse power generation and distribution packages, including multiple substations.
• Develop and support Power Management Systems including load shedding logic, generator control, synchronisation, and automation.
• Review and validate PMS architecture, functional design, and integration with SCADA/PLC systems.
• Prepare technical reports, study outputs, and engineering recommendations.
• Interface with HV engineers, controls teams, and client representatives.
• Support FAT/SAT activities and commissioning documentation where required.

Required Experience

• Strong background in HV electrical engineering within mining, heavy industrial, utility, or EPC environments.
• Proven experience in ETAP modelling and power system analysis or PMS development and substation automation.
• Understanding of protection schemes, relay coordination, and network configuration.
• Familiarity with communication protocols (Modbus, IEC-61850, DNP3) for PMS/SCADA integration.
• Ability to interpret system design documents and produce high-quality engineering deliverables.
• 5-15 years relevant experience.
