Are you a Registered Adult Nurse with a minimum of a 2.1 degree in adult Nursing, addition to maths and English GCSEs.

This is an exciting opportunity for a registered Adult Nurse to undertake a 2 year Masters (MSc) degree in Midwifery with the University of Salford.

This is a fully funded post and you will be paid at mid point band 5 during training including all university fees and travel expenses can be claimed.

Practical training and experience will be based at RLI and FGH

There will be a mixture of teaching sessions both at University of Salford campus and virtual sessions.

There is 1 place available for RLI for this post with UHMBT in the January 2027 cohort.

This training does not guarantee Midwifery employment with the trust following training .

Successful candidates will need to also apply to the course on the university

Main duties of the job
As part of this opportunity you will be given:

• Fully funded, paid at mid point Band 5 during training, includes all university fees.
• Masters level (MSc) study leading to a midwifery qualification
• On successful completion you will be eligible to register as a midwife on the NMC register
• Practical training and experience is based at FGH
• Study is condensed into weeklong blocks
• Students will have a mix of attendance on the Salford campus, virtual sessions and self directed learning
• Travel expenses can be claimed
• Holidays are 7 weeks per annum, set by the University

About us
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
