Caseworker

About the role
Tom Morrison, Lib Dem MP for Cheadle, is looking for an organised, empathetic and resilient Caseworker to join his constituency team. This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of Cheadle's community, helping local residents resolve serious problems with government departments, local services and other organisations.

You will manage a busy and sensitive caseload covering issues working directly with constituents to understand their situation and pursue the best possible outcome on their behalf. You will be the first point of contact for many residents at what is often a difficult time in their lives, so a calm, professional and compassionate manner is essential. Strong writing, communication, IT and organisational skills are essential, along with an understanding of how to use AI tools responsibly to support casework and correspondence.

Key responsibilities
● Manage a full and varied caseload from initial enquiry through to resolution, keeping accurate records on the office's case management system
● Correspond with constituents by letter, email and phone, explaining next steps clearly and sensitively
● Liaise with government departments and agencies to progress cases
● Draft letters to ministers, public bodies and organisations on behalf of the MP
● Identify cases that may require a wider campaign, media interest or a parliamentary question, and flag these to the MP and Communications Manager
● Run and support regular constituency surgeries, casework outreach events and constituency meetings
● Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive personal data in line with data protection requirements
● Provide general administrative support to the constituency office as required
