Practice Nurse

Job summary
Brinsworth & Whsiton Medical Centreare looking for a compassionate and skilled Practice Nurse to join their friendly primary care team. You will provide high-quality patient care, including managing long-term conditions, administering immunisations, and promoting health and wellbeing. Working closely with GPs and colleagues, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to join our team on a permenant basis. We are a forward-thinking GP practice serving approximately 10,000 patients.

The role is for 30 to 37.5 hours per week.

Previous experience working within General Practice is
essential.

Job responsibilities
The applicant must be able to undertake:

• Undertake Chronic disease management and prevention Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, Hypertension, Hypothyroidism, IHD, Stroke, LD.
• Perform wound care using aseptic technique and general wound care.
• Undertake opportunistic screening of BP checks, height, weight, BMI, urinalysis, glucose monitoring and smoking status.
• Administer injections under an individual prescription or patient group direction
• Offer a holistic approach to travel health including comprehensive advice for patients prior to travel.
• Undertake ear syringing.
• Competent in anaphylaxis and resuscitation techniques.
• Child Health and Child Protection, including immunisations.
• Promote health and well-being, through the use of health promotion, health education, screening and therapeutic communication skills.
• Refer and use social prescribing teams.
• To undertake home visits.
• To clearly communicate the health status of the patient using appropriate terminology, technology and format.
• INR monitoring if agreed by a shared care protocol.
• Undertake infection control measures, including audits and annual reports.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential

• Registered Nurse with NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration fully licensed to practice in the UK.
• Relevant clinical training or experience in primary care nursing including treatment room procedures, immunisations, and long-term condition management, cytology.
• UK driving licence

Desirable

• Professional development courses relevant to primary care nursing or patient care excellence.

Experience
Essential

• Previous Practice Nursing experience within a General Practice setting is essential for this role.
