Estates Property Maintenance Apprentice

JOB OVERVIEW

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Estates Department at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. We are seeking 2 motivated individuals to join our teams as Apprentice Property Maintenance Technicians based across our two acute sites. During this comprehensive three-year apprenticeship, you will gain the industry-recognised qualifications required to become a fully qualified Property Maintenance Technician. Alongside your formal studies, you will develop specialised, hands-on skills essential for maintaining complex hospital systems within a dynamic healthcare environment. Your week will be split between structured classroom learning at Telford College (1 day per week) and practical, on-the-job training with our experienced estates team (4 days per week).

ELIGIBILITY FOR THIS ROLE:

• Can be any age post full-time education (16+)
• Cannot already be on an Apprenticeship or any Government funded

training, * Cannot have a qualification at the same or higher level in the same vocational area. There needs to be significant new learning. * Has been a UK resident for 3 or more years or meets the eligible and valid residency status and permission to work in the UK criteria

MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB

As a multi-skilled apprentice, you will work across various trades to support the upkeep of critical hospital infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include: * PLANNED MAINTENANCE: Undertaking a comprehensive range of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks across Trust properties. * REACTIVE REPAIRS: Responding promptly to building, engineering, and fabric maintenance faults to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. * FAULT FINDING: Learning to diagnose technical issues, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and implement effective repair solutions. * MINOR INSTALLATIONS: Assisting with small-scale installation projects across building structures, engineering infrastructure, and associated equipment.
