About the Role

A welcoming and supportive secondary school in Rochdale is seeking a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain valuable classroom experience or build a career in education.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring pupils remain engaged with the work that has been set. You will play a key role in maintaining a positive learning environment, promoting high standards of behaviour, and supporting pupils to achieve their potential throughout the school day.

This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced teaching assistants looking to progress, or individuals with experience working with young people in educational or youth settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise classes across a range of subjects in the absence of the class teacher.
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure pupils remain on task.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy.
• Provide guidance and support to pupils where appropriate, encouraging engagement with learning.
• Record attendance and report any behavioural or safeguarding concerns to the appropriate staff.
• Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
• Liaise effectively with teaching staff and the wider school team to ensure continuity of learning.

The Successful Applicant Will

• Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school, college, sports coaching, youth work, or similar environment.
• Be confident managing groups of students and maintaining positive behaviour.
• Have excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Be adaptable, professional, and able to work across different subject areas.
• Be enthusiastic, resilient, and committed to supporting students' learning.
• Have the right to work in the UK and be available to work full-time.

Desirable:

• Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant.
• A degree or equivalent qualification.
• Behaviour management or safeguarding training.
• Aspirations to pursue a career in teaching or education.
