Assistant / Trainee Manager – Children's Residential

Location: Leeds
Starting salary: £35,000 per annum plus sleep-in payments
Working pattern: Residential shift rota, including approximately 9–10 sleep-ins per month

Are you an experienced children's residential care professional looking to progress into management?

This opportunity offers a clear development pathway towards becoming a Registered Manager, with all training and qualifications required for your development fully funded .

You will work alongside the Registered Manager, gaining practical management experience while helping to create a safe, supportive and nurturing home for children and young people.

The role

• Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home.
• Lead shifts and provide guidance and support to the staff team.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
• Promote safeguarding and respond appropriately to concerns.
• Support care planning, risk assessments and accurate record keeping.
• Help with staff supervision, development and induction.
• Assist with audits, quality assurance and preparation for Ofsted inspections.
• Work closely with families, social workers, education teams and other professionals.
• Take on increasing management responsibilities as your skills and confidence develop.
• Participate in the rota, including approximately 9–10 sleep-ins each month.

What we're looking for

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Previous experience working within children's residential care.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and the needs of children in care.
• Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
• The confidence to support colleagues and lead by example.
• A calm, consistent approach to challenging situations.
• A commitment to completing further qualifications and progressing towards a Registered Manager position.

Previous experience as a Senior Support Worker or Team Leader would be advantageous.
