Job summary
The Endocrine service serves the population of the Southwest region. This role will establish you as a key member of the team & help to deliver care to this diverse patient group. Prior exposure to patients with endocrine conditions is desirable but not essential. Our Patientgeneral endocrine cohort can require specialist diagnostic tests, therapeutic treatments & regular monitoring.The CYPGS patients can require interdisciplinary psychoeducation regarding gender expression &clinial support. The post holder will be part of a team of specialist nurses who provide specialist nursing care, education and advice to both parents/carers and other centres. You will be expected to work with a multitude of professionals, be confident & able to communicate on a wide range of levels. The Endocrine CNS is oftenthe first point of contact for enquiries from patients, relatives & other professionals. As part of the role, you will assist in undertaking the Growth Stimulation Tests on the medical day care ward. You will also gain skills in Auxology to help assist us in assessment of the children's growth. The successful candidate will need to work within a team but also to work without supervision, using their own initiative, demonstrating problem solving and excellent organisational skills. You must be able to work flexibly and provide a safe, friendly and efficient service and be conscious of the need to cover the fixed clinical commitments. Main duties of the job

- Work with the MDT including consultant paediatricians and fertility specialists providing clinical assessment services as part of holistic needs assessment, care planning and interventions
- Interventions for patients including group and individual education regarding puberty and other physical aspects of gender expression.
- Paediatric Endocrinology Nursing Services involving clinical tests and interventions for day patients and inpatients as well as outpatients.
- Liaison with other national Gender Service providers
- Contribution to MDT discussions, understanding and report writing
- Outpatient clinic management including measurement and charting
- Monitoring patient growth and puberty in association with the consultant paediatrician
