The Job:
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Pig Farm Unit Manager to take responsibility for the day to day management of a finishing pig unit. This is a hands on role requiring strong livestock management skills, the ability to lead a small team and a commitment to maintaining high standards of animal welfare, health and operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily running of the finishing pig unit, including feeding, health monitoring and general animal husbandry
- Lead, organise, and supervise farm staff to ensure efficient day to day operations
- Maintain accurate records relating to livestock, feed, health and production performance
- Carry out basic maintenance of farm machinery and equipment, ensuring all equipment is safe and operational
- Ensure compliance with animal welfare, biosecurity and health & safety standards across the unit
- Monitor unit performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency The Company:

The Candidate:
- Proven experience managing pig units or working within commercial pig production, with strong livestock management and animal husbandry knowledge
- Experience leading and supervising farm staff within a busy agricultural environment
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate farm records
- Practical mechanical aptitude with the ability to carry out routine equipment maintenance
- Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK; relevant agricultural qualifications or telehandler/JCB certification would be advantageous
- Committed to maintaining high standards of animal welfare, biosecurity, and health & safety
The Package:
- Salary from £38,000 depending on experience
- Company pension
- Housing allowance or accommodation (subject to availability)
- Working hours approximately 7:00am – 5:00pm, plus 10 hours every other weekend
- Long-term opportunity within a well-established farming business

All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
